Was reporting to Head-Marketing/ CEO, was directly responsible for: -
❖ Export market development & sales of Iron-Ore Fines, Sponge Iron, Pig Iron, Ferro-Chrome, Steel Semis (Beam-Blanks, Billets, Blooms, Rounds, & Slabs), Structural Sections, Rails, Wire Rods, and Wide Plates & Coils. Successfully established export set-up from scratch in 2004 along with export logistics at Vizag, Mumbai, Paradip and Haldia ports and enabled continuous improvement in exports operations through 2011. Established new markets in S.E Asia, Middle East, Africa and North America. Increased Iron Ore exports progressively, from 0.5 million tons in 2004-05 to 1.5 million tons in 2009-10, and Iron & Steel exports from ~40000mt in 2004-05 to ~250000mt in 2010-11. Increase in export turnover, from levels of Rs 400 Cr/~USD 88 million in 2004 to Rs 1200 Cr/~ USD 260 million in 2010-11, and Rs 750 Cr/~USD 160 million till H1/2011-12 was achieved.
❖ Post commissioning of JSPL’s 4.5mtpa capacity pelletisation facility in Sep’2010, I was given the responsibility of establishing domestic market for Iron Ore Pellets. Successfully developed it to a large number of Sponge Iron/HBI/Scrap buyers across India against stiff competition from other producers, Hi-grade iron ore miners, and Pellet imports. Progressively, sales growth to a level of 250KT per month was achieved by Sept’2011.
❖ Other important contributions & achievements as per roles assigned during JSPL’s evolution.
o Successful launch of European Structural Sections for first time in the Indian market (2004).
o Sales of Sections to large projects in domestic market through liasioning with BIS, Designers, Architects & Builders. (2004-2006)
o Product Manual designing and layouts for Structural, Plates & Coils, Wire-Rods, Fabricated Sections and Technical presentations for specific customers as well as for internal training of new sales force.
o Liasioning with Indian Railways (Railway Board) for JSPL’s empanelment as a rail supplier.
o Participation in SPVs (Special purpose vehicles) for dedicated rail projects and preparation of internal feasibility reports on projected traffic flows for existing and future operations.
o Market intelligence System
o Liasioning with independent agencies for Plant approvals to facilitate export and domestic sales to specific segments. (CE, ABS, LRS, DNV, GL, ADW, and IBR, and currently, CARES).
o Internal reports for existing and upcoming steel products & projects and support to the project & finance departments for ROI calculations and acquisitions.
