1. Duration: Sept 2019 – Present
Position Held: General Manager of LSWE’s Malaysia Subsidiary Manufacturing Factory.
In Sept 2019, I was tasked to lead the establishment of a subsidiary manufacturing factory in Johor, Malaysia. Although backed by a strong Singapore based company, I faced challenges of different national language, national policies, working communities and COVID-19. Despite all the obstacles, I have managed to oversee LSWE’s transformation into a 150 staff workforce capable of producing at least 8000 ton of fabricated steel structure per annual.
During the first year (2019), my primary roles was to ensure that the company has the adequate and correct licenses to operation smoothly in Malaysia. Concurrently, I am also responsible to ensure that all project deliverables were met within the schedule.
Second year (2020)’s priority was to undergo mass recruitment. As the company is still in the infancy stage, there is an on-going search for correct candidates to fill up the vacant roles to unravel teething issues faced. Face with COVID-19 and the movement restriction, I was required to lead my team to embrace remote conferencing technology and derive creativity presentation methods for our clients.
Year 2021-2022, the manpower and production are at their peak and work flow process has been standardised, my focus is about managing the subsidiary company’s overhead expenses, salary and yearly audits. To enable monitoring of such statistics and key performances, I will be engaging in software implementation to synchronise the inventory and production movement of the Singapore HQ company.
Duties:
• Manage “License Manufacturing Warehouse” (LMW). The purpose of LMW is to give Customs duty exemption to all raw materials/ components and machinery and equipment used.
• Work closely with Finance Department to review Transfer Pricing of raw and fabricated steel.
• Review and approve all expenses and salary incurred by subsidiary company.
• Review and approve yearly insurance policies to ensure company and staffs have adequate
coverage.
• Chair technical and progress meetings with SG HQ and Subsidiary production teams.
• Served as Project Manager for Major Project such as Punggol Digital District (PDD).
Completed fabrication and installation of the transfer truss (3200 tons) between basement train station and commercial building.
• Report directly to Chief Executive Director.
2. Duration: Oct 2014 – Sept 2019
Position Held: Project Manager under Subsea and O&G Project Department.
Towards the end of Year 2015, LSWE received a Request to Quote from an international subsea company to fabricate 2 units of Recompression chambers equipped with a number of sub-assemblies.
Recompression chamber (RCC) is also termed as a decompression or hyperbaric chamber. It is a seal compartment that is pressurized to mimic different level of atmospheric.
With the experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction phases for pressure vessels, I was transferred to the Project Department to oversee the project tender and project delivery.
Since completing the RCC, LSWE has received good reviews and progressed to build more sophisticated vessel made of out super duplex material for the sub-sea company.
Duties:
• Managed key client accounts from Oil and Gas Sector such as NOV Rig Solutions, Haliburton, Baker Hughes.
• Preparation of tender price and budgetary allocation for projects.
• Qualification and validation of the company’s personnel and machinery to meet the sub-sea standards required by third party inspector, Lloyds’ Register (LR).
• Procurement and logistic shipment of steel material from approved mill and forgery in UK and Korea.
• Oversea manufacturing, fabrication, workmanship and Factory Acceptance Testing phase of the Re-compression Chambers.
• Ensure all the Technical Queries have been attended to. Disseminating the changes in to Engineering, Production and QC departments.
• After Project Review presentation to the higher management on Cost Amortization, Project Delivery and Lesson Learnt during the entire phase of the project.
3. Duration: June 2011 – 2014
Position Held: Business Development / Project Manager under Bioplays Energy Pte Ltd,
subsidiary company of LSWE.
Duties:
• Planning and organization of the factory setup of organic fertilizer and biomass charcoal in Singapore and Malaysia.
• Travel to China to verify the quality and technically of the equipment required for the plant setup. Handled the purchase the purchase and logistic of equipment shipment.
• Sales negotiation of products (Organic Fertilizer and Biomass Charcoal), as well as, trade
commodities such Low-Rank Coal (LRC) and Palm Kernel Shell (PKS).
• Tendering for Oil and Gas projects, dealing mainly with the integration of Rotating Equipment with Instruments and Pressure Vessels.
• Liaison with the respective statuary board (JTC, NEA, AVA, SPRING, EDB) for the projects requirement.
• Committee Member of NUS Environmental Research Institute for the Research & Development for the Valorization of Coal Ash and Organic Soil Conditioner.
