EGP Associate - Proposal Engineer Rotation Dec 2020 - Jul 2021 (8 months) From 7th December 2020 to 15th July 2021, I was assigned to my final rotation in Proposal Function. It started off from a week of training across the different products and learning the basics for the scope of work that a proposal engineer does. Was then assigned to help out service requests for about 14 different proposals with some needing to help do revisions throughout my time there. They range across different countries like Singapore, Brunei, Thailand and Malaysia as well as handling different scope of work from Service to Control Systems Projects. Felt through this experience I learnt to be more aware of templates for different kinds of documentations and emails.
Learnt to write Minutes of Meetings for a couple of opportunities as well as exposed myself to various documents that a proposal engineers uses like GEET, Buyautomation, Salesforce and CQA portal from a proposal engineer's perspective. Had very helpful colleagues in this stint where I was able to note my progress through this experience, taking leaps of faith from time to time as I was asked to attempt new tasks which I had no prior practical application of using. Examples were filling portions of the GEET to fill various parts for estimating the manhours, drawing up a system architecture basing off templates and input from internal stakeholders and filling up documents like PAT templates and Pricesum files to collate proposals and prices of a whole range of items respectively. Lastly, I was able to interact with a different set of stakeholders and was grateful for the opportunity to be able to work with each of them at varying degrees. Overall throughout this experience I gained an empathy towards the way projects are conjured from an early stage and the time it takes to come up with a proposal to aim to meet customer expectations and to be agile and adaptable since each opportunity and project is different in many facets, an enriching experience indeed.
Aug 2020 - Dec 2020 (5 months) EGP Associate - PreSales Procurement Rotation From 11th August 2020 to 3rd December 2020, was assigned to Presales area within Procurement function. Was able to learn various policies and procedures terms of the various responsibilities a buyer is required to have. This went from benchmarking different quotes from different vendors to approval of vendors through an intensive process. Was able to experience a whole new facet of the process automation business this time diving towards the pre sales perspective for how projects are being bid liaising with many departments. Performed activities that kept expanding the longer I spent my time within this department. Learnt of the various terms and conditions to keep note of when being given quotations and gained better understanding and appreciation of how integral procurement function has to offer in making sure projects can proceed smoothly from a timing and pricing perspective. Also attended trainings to further emphasize importance of the process from Presales, Postsales and Warehouse departments all working hand in hand to provide necessary support within Customer Project Process.

Was able to assist in multiple facets of the project from doing engineering work using various features of Foxboro software to accommodate customer requirements through guidance of lead engineer and a project manager to handling documentation works to submit as required documents to customer under a document submission platform. Ended up extending rotation by 2 months since I was required to help in preparations for segmentation works through use of Modbus configurations being put into practical applications. Managed to assist till internal test test so got to experience how it is like conducting tests like random test for connection of points to redundancy tests through software and hardware adjustments. Afterwards, despite being hit by a COVID pandemic, was able to rotate to procurement function where I was first assigned to warehouse department where I was able to observe another facet of the overall business of Process Automation. Helped to create invoicing through SAP and Esocius software during circuit breaker period before being approved to work during circuit breaker from 25th May 2020 to report to the warehouse to carry out warehouse operations from receiving goods to shipping goods to customers through liaising with 3rd party logistics companies and filling up Airway bills manually and online.
